One workroom, four pairs of hands.
Aldery & Rowe opened on Cordwainer Row in 2011. There are four of us: a cutter, a coat maker, a trouser maker and a finisher. Every suit passes through our hands and no one else’s.
Cutter
Callum Rowe
Drafts every pattern by hand and cuts every cloth. You will see him at all three fittings.
Coat maker
Eamon Aldery
Builds each jacket on a canvas of horsehair and wool, padded by hand. About sixty hours a coat.
Trouser maker
Ines Varga
Cuts and sews trousers and waistcoats, and hems them to the shoes you will wear.
Finisher
Pim de Wit
Sews buttonholes and linings by hand, then presses everything before it goes home.
In the workroom
Nothing is glued, and nothing is sent away.
Our jackets are built on a floating canvas, stitched in by hand so the chest keeps its shape for decades. Trousers are cut from the same cloth, on the same table, by the same people.
We keep every paper pattern we have ever drafted. When you come back for a second suit, we start from yours.
